It sounds like you have the wrong driver for the card you have... Look at the nic card, turn off pc, unplug from the wall outlet. take side of pc off and look at the card, You may need a phillips screw driver, to take off the screw that holds the card in place, Note exactly how the card is plugged in so you can put it back later, and pull the card straight out.. (it might take some wiggleing), DONT BEND THE SLOT ITS PLUGED INTO....
On the card you should see a larger black chip, on that chip should be some numbers, (the numbers may be on the actual card).. Write down every thing you find on the card, plug the card back in, (Making sure you push it all the way in place) replace the screw, and the side of the case. plug the pc back into the wall. and boot it up.. go to www.driverguide.com and search the numbers, (one set at a time, Some times its just part of one of the sets of numbers, ) with the operating system..
54321 XP Perhaps there is a name of the card..
Also depending on what kind of driver needs to be installed you may need to boot into DOS to install the driver, Check the site where you got the drivers, to see if there are instructions.. If that fails,
your card may be bad.. Go to the control panel in windows, and add new hardware, search for it, if its in the list then click it, if not just follow the instructions, You may need to point it to the folder where you have the drivers downloaded....
If all else fails make another question with the operating system your using and all the numbers found on the card.. and the chip..
