fax modem not working....help!!?

I need to send a fax using my computer, but the two fax programs that I have are unable to locate my modem. I get an error message saying it's not connected. I have tried using hyperterminal and that will work and dial through. I need to scan and send a page...I'm on a Windows XP Laptop. Any ideas or tips?? Thanks.

You may have to replace the modem that u have now. You can check this on Device manager and proceed accorgingly/

Check to see if your modem is connected. Go into the device manager to see if the driver is installed
