some ppl do it out of spite or just habit. some do it out of jealousy or insecurity. it won't get a person far, they eventually get what they deserve sooner or later, so just ignore them and be the better person. where i come from you see it as a reflection of their upbringing, in the end they are saying more about themselves rather than others.

I don't get your question but I think you are saying that someone is bad mouthing you that don't know you.
JEALOUSY is the answer.
You will learn in life that you can't worry about what people say about you but all you can do is be the best person you can be and not worry about gossip, the truth always comes out. Just go on like nothing has ever been said and don't let it get you down

Someone who does know that person tells you things about that someone and you trust what that person is telling you and because of that, you begin bad mouthing them without hearing their side of the story.
Not saying it's right or that I've done it...just telling you how you do it.

People do it all the time. You talk about celebrities and sports figures and you don't know them. You dis politicians and you don't know them.
My question would be why do you want to?
