There is no polite way to tell someone thy are annoying. You either have to continue allowing the behavior, or you really hate the BOB person enough to make them feel completely unloved and uncared for. Tough job but you seem like you could careless about BOB and I am sure that BOB has been hurt so many times over and over again that BOB is used to being told he is not worth a few minutes of your time to feel like a human. Go ahead rip his little heart out? See what I am saying here?

He's a guy not some girl you're trying to break up with. Although, treating him like one just might work. Don't answer his calls. Tell him you'd love to, but you're busy... Always in a nice way, but...
Or, you could treat Bob like a guy real guy and just tell him you don't want to hang out with him. Let him know you think he's okay, but you just don't like spending that much time with one guy.
Sorry, my friend, you just gotta break up with him...

Politely tell him that you are very busy and that when you have time, you will get in touch with him. I would not totally blow him off, but just get him to understand that you have your personal time and boundaries and that you will work with him. Put yourself in his shoes for a minute and see what you come up with. Some people are just lonely and need to be reminded that being alone is okay and gives them time to learn about themself. He doesn't need to cling to someone to identify himself. hope it helps...:-)

Gosh, your name is John and you can't get Bob off your butt.
Is he Gay or what? Tell him to get lost or you'll take a baseball bat to him. No need to be polite.
