Every organism's strongest instinct is the "instinct for survival." Some individuals, groups, states, countries are in social-economic-political-military environments in which their "instinct for survival" is still threatened and that instinct is actively operating. Any increase in their power will give that organism some degree of comfort in its basic instinct.

I don't know why some people desire power over other human beings. I have never desired power over someone and I think it's despicable how some people (mostly men) take it upon themselves to take control of a group of people and make them follow their misleading guidance. I really, really think it's because the ones that desire power are actually weak individuals. They're scared and pathetic deep inside and something kicks in and makes them try to take control in order to protect themselves from being controlled by others first. That's what I think.

humanity desires power because it is in us naturally. it cannot be helped. wether you think about it on a large scale like terrorism or on a smaller scale like talking and talking and being the center of attention, it is a feeling that people enjoy and would kill for to have. look at what people have done in the past to get this power. i need not say examples im sure every one is thinking the same events that i am thinking. it is up to a persons mind to over come this desire for power and realize that if you are in control earth would not be the same. i mean that is why supposedly we are in america because we want to be free. if we cant be free in america then wat is this countrys purpose?? we would just be going back to the times of early immagration because of lousy people(kings) that get greedy. (migration from europe to usa)

they know they'res a higherr force, no mater how much they want to ignore that. deep inside they knwo its true, so they want to at the level of that being. surpass thier own levels and go beyond into the impossible. take a normal human examplle. when an entire classroom makes fun of one kid, should he find someon to take it out on, he will. it helps them relieve it, and think "hey, they can contorl me, i can control this persn. it equals out.".
i know it doesn't answer ur question, but its to much of a deep question. awesome tho.
