reading, scrapbooking (isn't THAT expensive when you first start.. just get basic stuff that can always be used else where, like construction paper, glue, markers, etc.. try it out.. once you get into it, you may really enjoy yourself... I love it, i've been doing it for years), learn a new language, learn new recipies or take up baking (www.kraftfoods.com/kf), search the net for some practical crafts, learn computer programming (not that hard for some basic stuff), take up sewing (although, that could be a big investment if you don't already have a sewing machine), learn calligraphy, get a pen pal, get an EMAIL pal, make a snowman!, do some gardening, explore your hometown.. bet there are lots of things that you didn't know about the place you are living!!!
Have fun!

Well while I'm home with nothing to do, I usually go do some gardening. (In the summer of course) Or just play with my dogs, in any type of weather because I play with them indoors if it's really hot or really cold.
But if you don't want to buy the stuff then I guess scrap booking is out of the question, although you could do digital scrap booking!! =D
You download or make your own things instead of buying the paper and little nick knacks and such.
The only thing you would need to buy is a good program for digital scrap booking, I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and Jasc Pain Shop Photo, there are many others as well.

Two words...Local Library!! If you can get out of the house, go to your local public library and browse through the stacks to see what catches your eye! Libraries are great places to explore. And some librarians are great resourse people who can point you in the right direction for community workshops and programs. Have fun!

Take up writing. You could start by writing letters to friends and family. Go from there to writing short stories, just jotting down at first. Could make you some money? Go for a novel later on.

are you confined to your house? if not let me know your location and i may be able to tip you off on some fishing tips and spots.
but if you are confined, learn harmonica. it is really easy to pick up on it quickly, they are cheap, and it is really fun.
