Yeah, anyone can edit it, but they require you to post links to your statements, so they can verify their authenticity. If you don't post links, they'll delete it, simple as that.

yeah, but when people need facts and information, Wikipedia is the first to pop up on Google most of the time. It provides a lot of information, usually in understandable terms, and you can always search up other terms that you don't know. Other websites don't have as much information, or if they do, it requires a lot of reading to get the info you need. Wikipedia has pretty much everything in one page, but if it doesn't you can always try something else. All in all, it's just very easy to access and learn through Wikipedia.
Oh yeah, and also, people edit the edits that everyone makes. I haven't found a single instance when Wikipedia had some wrong information yet. I even tried to add stuff on, but it got taken off in a few hours

Wikepedia should be taken with a grain of salt. I too question why everyone seems to copy and paste from Wikepedia articles. Many schools will not allow students to use Wiki as a reference for assignments. Good for them.
There are other places on the net with more comprehensive, accurate and reliable information than Wikipedia.
Yes, these are usually paid sites but you get what you pay for.
