What's the best way to scrape gum off the bottom of a shoe, and also.....?

to get gum off put an ice cube on the gum and let it set for awhile then pry it off with a knife. I don't think I'd like to fart in any-ones face

excuse yourself to go to the restroom to remove the gum if you want to be discreet and use a thin card like a credit card or a pen if you are wearing tennis shoes because of the soles
