my 3-month old dd will only nap for 30 minutes at a time. she'll wake up screaming so loud she almost throws up. i try to wiat it out and confort her, but beleive me, she is wide awake and doesn't want to nap longer. she'll nap 3 times a day for 30 minutes and is having problems staying asleep at night too (she used to sleep 9 hours straight). she is super fussy during the day now, and she used to never fuss. i guessing that part of it is that she's exhaused. i feel so bad for her and don't know what to do. has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

I really recommend the book "On Becoming Babywise" it helps establish healthy sleep routines for babies. But my #1 tip is to reduce waketime. By the time a baby starts to fuss and "act" tired, its too late, and they won't be able to settle to sleep very well. Our 10 week old baby is always back to bed by the 2 hour mark since the start of her last feeding, and she sleeps for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a time, and is up to 6 1/2 hour stretches at night. Good luck.

My daughter is 7 months previous and she or he nevertheless does not take 2 long naps an afternoon (that would desire to be so large!). Its often 3 40 5 min-a million hour long naps. each infant is diverse yet it is noticeably accepted. Be grateful that he's dozing in any respect in the time of the day.

My kids spent a lot of time napping in the swing. I am amazed that she slept for 9 hours straight at such a young age. Do you think she is waking up hungry? If you are doing formula, I've heard that some babies do better on soy formula. Good luck.

Consider yourself lucky that your baby is napping at all. My daughter bareley napped to begin with but she gave up all naps at 4 months. There was nothing wrong with her, just me. Believe me, I needed her to nap. She cried an aweful lot because she was just so colicy and there wasn't a lot that could comfort her. She did finally outgrow the collic and when it did, it was like the heavens above opened up and let the light shine down on both of us. Good Luck!

i know she is much older now but try swaddling her. my son did the same thing (and hated being swaddled as an infant) but i gave it a go again and now its the only way to keep him asleep for a few hours.get a bigger blanket from walmart in the baby section. like 52 inches by 40 inches. it works better. for the time being use a large towel. hope this helps

The babywise book sounds good!!

I gotta tell ya, though... a friend of mine had a little boy who stopped taking naps completely... at 4 months.

I'm afraid sleeping patturns that bizzare are normal. Also this is like the 'dogs can smell fear thing' it makes you more afraid, but a baby can sense when your stressed and that disresses it, so try to stay calm when your holding her.
