download soulseek and ask people in the indie chat there to give you recommendations based on what you like now. Then branch off from there. YOu can try amazon to see similar artists.

There’s a lot of talk these days about independent music. If you’re not on a major label, that certainly qualifies you as an independent artist, but it’s totally separate from indie rock. To say otherwise is like comparing punk rock to disco.

Indie rock is basically an independent record label (or a not so big one). That is how the bands get that genre. If you want to get into it, I recommend these bands:

Bright Eyes (My Fav)
Cursive
Dashboard Confessional

Enjoy!

Go to London.
The indie music scene there is a lot more.....erm...indie than it is in the U.S. Artists are less than thrilled with major labels in the last few years and a LOT of artists are sticking with indie labels. The indie labels are more open to new music than majors (obviously), but a lot of them are starting using major label distribution, so their artists reach a bigger audience. Reaching a large audience is a lot easier in the U.K. 'cause it's a hell of a lot smaller than the U.S. Yeah, so, point being, you hear a LOT more "indie" music in the U.K.
