What beast does a sheep originate from?

Sheep and goats are very nearly the same animal, both seem to mainly exist as domesticated species, but I think they were seperate species before domestication, although I could be wrong. As someone else mentioned the sheep ancestor is the wild mouflon from Asia. If you went back much further than the common ancestor of sheep and goats, you'd also find the common ancestor of all even-toed ungulates.

they came from a similar ancestor as goats- look at the Mountain goat in the US- looks very sheep like. They were domesticated overseas though, so there would be a different ancestor.
Oh- not all pigs came from boars- just the old world pigs, which is what we use for meat (the big pink pigs)
tayssuidae, the new world pigs, do not come from the european wild boar. An example is the Javelina and the Collared Peccary.

The domestic sheep would probably come from wild sheep or goats. Like the mountain goat.

They are the original, they dont necessarily have to originate from anything.
