A couple of things to do to help avoid UTIs:

1) Make sure you wipe from front to back
2) Drink plenty of fluids regularly
3) Urinate after sex (and no anal sex)
4) Wear loose underwear/pants

You do not need to douche after sex and in general it is not recommended to douche.
You do not need to use any special wipes instead of just regular toilet paper.

You do need to follow-up with the urologist, however, as there may be some structural abnormality that is leading to you developing recurrent urine infections. Or there may be an infected kidney stone or abscess in the kidney that is constantly leading to recurrent infections.

Douching washes away the natural gems and bacteria that your vagina needs to keep itself it top condiation. It is a self cleaning part of the body and although I only use the wipes when I'm heavy on my period (dry toilet paper doesn't always cut it) I try to stay natural. Some people don't like the smell of a natural vagina, but I think the smell gets worse when you douch. I think all vaginas smell bad atleast a small amount of the time, but if it is percistant you should go for a gyn.

I've heard that taking cranberry pills (or, better yet, drinking cranberry juice [not cocktail, but 100% juice, even if it is mixed with other fruit juices]) can help prevent UTIs.

I agree with others that douching may make UTIs more frequent. Have you tried not douching for a while to see if that helps?
