She sends me text messages about work instead of calling or email. I think its unprofessional and annoying. I want some ideas on how to get her to stop doing this

This might sound crazy...but if that were my boss, I would get some text message plan (i.e. $4.99 for unlimited) and let him text away. Why create an awkward moment with someone that has so much influence over your future when all you need is a paradigm shift and not care about the text'ing. Don't sweat the small stuff - text messages should not be a reason to tell your boss off.

I guess first try to figure out why she is sending you messages that way. Is it because she is in a meeting, and can't call you while others are talking, and she just wants to remember to tell you something right when she thinks about it? Or maybe she's in some other place where she can't speak aloud to make a call.

If it's not for one of those reasons, then I agree about the unprofessional/annoying assessment.

You could try telling her that your service charges for texts, and you have reached your limit, but incoming calls are free, and so are emails.

OR email her and tell her that you check your email often so if she wants to send you messages about work, you will be sure and get them.

Politely tell her you prefer that she emails or calls you.
