Well, most of you teens pay some vanity publisher to do it, then hand out the copies to your friends and relatives. Legitimate publishing (NOT VANITY) is VERY difficult to get into and less than 1% of all manuscripts submitted each year ever get published. Publishers receive hundreds of thousands every year, and most are not even read, and sent back with the standard rejection letter. I wouldn't worry about any of this unless you are a great writer, have loads of experience and connections, an agent, and other published work under your belt.

Most writers locate an agent and submit their manuscript for inclusion to a number of publishing houses. This can take up to 3 years and receive a lot of rejections. It can get so bad that you wandered why you bothered and the ongoing costs sometimes outway the returns.
Why not publish it in E-Form on the net? Ed Howdershelt a bvery successful Science Fiction writer did just that and still does. He says he makes more bucks for the bang that way than through doing it on paper through an agent that takes 60% of the income.

You can contact Ed for the details at ABINTRA PRESS
