It was very expensive. I hate to just throw it out or recycle it. I would like to sell it but not sure that I can. The manufacturer says it's not sanitary but the hoses and stuff can be replaced can't they?

I have seen many used electric breast pumps for sale on eBay, and they all seem to sell very well. I'm sure the manufacturer's legally have to say that because if infection control risks. If people want to use a second hand one thats their choice. But as long as it is washed and sterilsed i don't see any problem. I have used my sisters old one.

Ok it all depends on which model you have some are meant and ok to use again. For instance the ones you can rent from the hospital is completely ok to reuse but the tubing and breast parts have to be replaced. The medela one are suppossed o only be used by one person and not meant for resale. There is however one called the Ameda purely yours that as long as you replace the tubes and breast parts it is reusable. This is the only unit approved by the FDA for this. Here are the reason the lactation consultants say not to sell your used pumps. There can be accidental milk backup into the pump unit itself and can transmit things such as Aids, Hiv, Hep A and B. But the lactation consultant told me that so long as you know the person you are giving or receiving from and you replace the tubingand the breast parts it is ok to do this. I know alot of people sell them on Ebay but you never know if they were really clean with this. The pump units itself cannot be taken apart to clean and sanitize against the accidental milk back up. I would reccommend if you know the person you are going to give it to or sell it to that is great because we all know how expensive these pumps are and I have had 5 different units one for each kid. Hope this helps some.

You can rent out electric breast pumps, just the stuff that actually touches the milk and your breasts needs to be replaced, I am sure you could sell it in a newspaper, yardsale or thriftshop.

It's not recommended because you used it for "bodily" fluids. I think that they say no way because they want people to go out and buy new ones. I gave my pump to a friend, she sterilized it and had not a single problem! Yes, you can sell it. Just remember to post that it is used and will need to be sanitized. Good luck.

sterilize it then craigslist.com is the way 2go. Post it on the "free" category under the "for sale" tab or sell it at a cheap price (say no more than $50) on the baby and kids category. You will be helping someone who can't afford to pay full price for it.

sell it. you can wash the parts in scalding hot water and sell it on ebay or in the paper. they sell like crazy. i wouldnt worry about repalcing parts. its not sanitary if you have an std. that can be transmitted though breast milk, dont just take things like breast pumps from somone you dont know. even nursing bras.

the pumping unit itself can be used by someone else, its just the parts that come in contact with you milk that can not. those parts can be replaced by ordering them from the manufacturer, when they arrive they are sterile, and then it can be sold

Yes they can be replaced and if you do that there are people on ebay that will buy it. I see used breastpumps on there all the time, along with alot of other used baby stuff.

just resell it... whoever purchases it can buy replacement parts that is "unsanitary" it would be better for those who cant pay full price for it and it would put a little bit of money back into your wallet..... good luck
