Riding around town, my sunfire makes a cricket sound occasionally even when the air conditioner or heater/defrost is OFF. It does it more so when I turn or accelerate. It isn't a constant noise just every now and then. Any clue as to what it might be???
THANKS!

Could it be the hood is loose on the car? I don't know a lot about cars, I am just guessing. I've noticed that a loose hood sounds like a cricket sometimes.

It could be a slipping serpentine belt or a bad belt tensioner. It could also be that the warning strips for your brake pads are just starting to touch the brake rotors. I would get both checked soon before those small problems turn into big ones.

So it does it while the air is on? It might be the flap in the vents that changes the direction of the air flow, from the floor to the defrost.

I'm going to agree and say it might be the belt tension. However, it wouldn't hurt to check your engine air flow (follow the intake from the front to the air cleaner to the engine, checking for defects) and/or it wouldn't hurt to run an injector cleaner in your next gas up.

Check the brakes, sounds like one of the indicators are hitting the rotor intermittently.
