Why? Because this country is racist and will always be that way. The U.S. claims to be the most civilized and tolerant in the world, yet hate is very strong here for those that aren't white and Christian. I admire Obama and wish him the best. I would certainly vote for him. Unfortunately his Islamic heritage won't help him with those idiots that let their hate get in the way of thinking rationally.

The guy s running for a political postion not for the Vatican.
A president job is like any other job. You cannot discriminate against someone running for a job.
The White House should be an Equal opportunity employer like any other business in the country unless this sentence is just a decoration on every career page of every company in America.
If there was an issue about a candidate religious background why there hasn't been a law banning a non-christian from running for elections ?

Maybe too many people are watching things like the link below.....I don't care if he is green, purple , or what he does, do you blame the people of this country for being skeptical about his intentions? He MUST be a practicing Christian........that is the very heart of this country. Americans don't hate Muslims, we are skeptical of their intentions. He can be as charming and well spoken and handsome as he wants, but, I will pound the pavement to stop people from voting for him. I can almost gurantee he probably will never be president of this country . You might have people on Yahoo! Answers saying yes, they will vote for him.....but they won't! I on a personal note don't think he has enough experience to run this country! I have always held the beliefs;
1.If it sounds too good to be true, then it must be.
2. All that glitters is not gold!
3. Don't even let me hear of a less than honerable back ground.

P.S. We don't need a Muslim president to allow Mulims to practice Muslim values. They already do that. Plus they USE the freedom of this country to do it!

There could be NO greater abomination than a Muslim in the White House when one considers the enlightened values Isalm
so lovingly promotes like:
The generational hate that Islam propagates...
Forced marriage of girls as young as 13 years of age...and the mutilation of the child bride's genitalia on their wedding night...
A religion that promotes murder, suicide, bombs, blood and mayhem and rewards the same with 72 Virgins "if" the faithful
martyr can bring a few Jews and Americans with them known as "the extra virgin bonus plan"...
A religion that wants to foist medieval values and a return to the Dark Ages of deep ignorance and intolerance...
I guess I'd be silent about my heritage too if it was based on that
horror...
A Muslim in the White House?
Rosie O'Donnell would be preferred!

He already is working and already has very risky particular interest communities at the back of him. yet maximum probable won't win, except by some doubtful means. however the guy himself feels like an amazing guy, yet possibly to green for government. Now the Rudy is working, he's the front runner, even over Hillary (Thank God)

I hate people saying this country is racists. Every country is racists. In Mexico, lighter skin (european) mexicans are in power and in public view. Darker skin mexicans are treated like dirt. I'm white, i spent two years in central america. You think i was treated fairly? Hell, I can't tell the difference between a Sunni and Shittie, You think they are racially biased against each other. Get over this crap that america is racists. The whole world is.

He's probably silent about it because he's not a Muslim. He's Christian. While he probably has some ancestors that were Muslim (as evidenced by his Arabic middle name), he himself has never been a follower of Islam.

Obama is not (and never has been) a Muslim. He has, however, been subjected to an extremely nasty smear campaign suggesting that he was educated in a Madrassa.
He was raised in a secular household and attended Catholic school
