Tom Landry
In 1960, he became the first head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and stayed for 29 seasons (1960-88). The Cowboys got off to a rough start, recording an 0-11-1 record during their first season and 5 or less wins in each of their next four. However, Landry's hard work and determination paid off, and the Cowboys improved to a 7-7 record in 1965. Then in 1966, they suprised the NFL by posting 10 wins and making it all the way to the NFL championship game. Dallas lost the game to the Green Bay Packers, but this season was still a display of what lay ahead: A span of 20 winning seasons from 1966 to 1985.
During this run, he won 2 Super Bowl titles (1972,78), 5 NFC titles, 13 Divisional titles, and compiled a 270-178-6 record, the 3rd most wins of all time for an NFL coach. His 20 career playoff victories are the most of any coach in NFL history. He was the NFL Coach of the Year in 1966 and the NFC Coach of the Year in 1975. But one of the most impressive accomplishments is his record for coaching a team to 20 consecutive winning seasons (1966-1985), an NFL record, and one of the longest winning streaks in "all" of professional sports.

Chuck Knoll for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Not only was he the first to win 4 Super Bowl, but he did it at a time when football was a sport and not a business. Most players started and ended their career with the same team. The 1984 Bears may have had the best single season defense of all time, but how many Steelers from the 70's are in the Hall of Fame.
Along with Bill Cohwer, Chuck Knoll and the Steelers are the winningest program in the last 20 years.

Don Shula - 33 years at the helm, and only two losing seasons. Ranks # 1 all-time with 328 wins
Finished 1st or 2nd in 28 of 33 seasons.
6 Super Bowls
1 NFL Championship games
btw, bionic above me - you are incorrect, the Steelers ARE NOT the winningest program in the past 20 years. Denver has 193 victories (and 2 Super Bowl Titles) in that time frame, Pittsburgh only has 187 (and 1 Title) Next time check your facts.

Vince Lombardi. The greatest motivation speaker football has ever known.
Get got every once of will and desire out of his players like no other coach ever has.
You don't get the Super Bowl trophy named after you for nothing.

db stole my thunder, the winningest coach in NFL history. that says it all doesn't it? BTW the dolphins are the winningest team in the NFL since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, thanks to the great don shula.
@mesquitem: check your facts before answering next time. don shula had 27 winning seasons and 6 superbowl appearances, both better than landrys 'records'. AND he had a perfect season to boot.
