Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how it feels when the baby pushes down. Nurses say to go to the hospital if u think you're in pre term labor and they give examples; one is when you feel the baby PUSHING DOWN. How exactly does that feel? I've given birth b4 but was induced and practically numb the whole time so I just want to know if anyone can describe this to me. Thanks.

FYI: This is 4 Tiff. I was induced at 38 weeks because I developed pre eclampsia. Started to induce me at 10:30 am 12/23 and didn't have the baby til 6:30 pm12/24. I had a vaginal delivery, very hard because I was so numb from all the medicine I couldn't feel my legs and therefore found it hard to push baby out. This most likely won't happen to you, they had to give me other medicines because of the pre eclampsia. If nothing is wrong with you health wise then your delivery should be alot easier. Good luck and congrats! on your first baby!

It almost feels like cramps. Just a little harder at first. Contractions (real contractions) come at intervals, 10 minutes apart, 5 minutes apart etc. They also get stronger with each one. When the feel like really really strong cramps, I mean you can't really focus on anything else and are about 10 minutes apart go to the hospital.

Well, maryjane, I wish I could ask you how it feels to be induced and what the whole experience is about how long it took you and if you had a cesarean or vaginal. I'm due for one this sat to mon!!!! My first!!! I have no clue of what "pushing down" means and never did my lamaze teacher, doctor, nor any experience woman, use that symptom. Maybe it is when you feel your uterus squeeze down from the top to the bottom to your back and back up again, called of course a contraction. Or when you actually feel the need to push!! Now that would be a little crazy because by then you would be in transition stage labor and should have already had that first warning stage 1 labor sign, every 5mins a contraction for an hour.

At ten min call your doctor! It feels like a lot of presure and you can feel the baby getting lower. Your plevic bone feels like it is opening. Also if you see blood or your water leaks or breaks even if labor has not started. That is what happened with my son, my water broke but no pain! And as weird as it sounds you can feel & see your cervix opening, my aunt ( a nurse) told me when I had my first baby to look there with a mirror if you think you might be in labor ( I have four kids) I did and you can.

When the baby is ready to come out you feel pressure on your bowels and other areas. Pressure is the best way to describe pushing done in my opinion. I been through this twice.

Love in Christ!!!

You will just feel pressure down there. I always felt my baby pushing down for a couple of weeks before I had him. I had him at 34 weeks. It just wasnt comfortable.
