I dont know where the concept came from but its just a myth...because I have broken plenty of them and no bad luck so far~~~~

It was once believed that the soul was present in one's reflection. So, the breaking of a mirror was equivalent to destroying the spirit. A broken mirror was often thought to foretell a death or some tragedy in the family. These are just a couple of theories. Follow this link for more info.

In the olden days, Mirrors were very expensive & hard to come by. Therefore, if you broke one, you were "out of luck".

The ancients tought mirrors showed ones soul. Thus breaking amirror is breaking your soul, and thats naturally not good.
