Perhaps become a lay preacher and spread 'the word' to anyone who'll listen. Apparently there was some guy 2000 years ago made a very successful switch from carpenter.

Don't upset any Romans, though!

You are suffering from the same illness I had with Electricity. To move up, you have to step away from your trade. If you really love the trade, the best thing to do is teach it to others and help them develop in the field. All other activities mean leaving the trade. When I became Ordering supervisor, I never touched the tools of my trade until I did a weekend project.

I would suggest that to have a good future in wood related industries you should have enviromental considerations high on the list of priorities .zero emission transport , sustainable timber sourcing ,NON-TOXIC natural based paints and finishes ,sealants , adhesives ,paint strippers and even a citrus based alternative to white spirits. this will be the future of tree related trades .The customers are deeeelighted.
