thats what my social teacher said, but he was wrong before. Also, was Carmen Miranda considered Latina? (my social studies teacher made the common mistake of referring to a female Hispanic as a Latino, when they are latina) She isnt from a spanish speaking country!

Yes, Carmen Miranda was the inspiration for Chiquita Bananas. I have placed a link to this below, describing how her huge headdresses and an infamous scene in a film with bananas inspired this look. A recent documentary was made about her life "Bananas is my Business".

Yes, and Portugese is a Romance language, too. Also, this may be the only instance of a company being named after its advertising icon. The TV ads with Chiquita were so popular the company changed its name to Chiquita. Strange.
