mom once found the Beatles' White Album, the only one of the albums my father didn't yet have and had been looking for. this was back in the '80's, way before there were online auctions to look for such things. It was a buck, so we bought it and surprised dad with it that day.

The best deal I got at a yard sale was a PS2 for my child. It was for 100 dollars, and I am not into video games, but my son told me it was a good deal. At yard sales though, you should but whatever you want. You are getting it cheap, and helping out a neighbor. If you don't want anything, I suggest donate it to charity.

I buy lots of stuff at yard sales, especially jewelry and antiques and also lots of art ingredients for the various media I work in.

The best deals I've gotten are definately precious stone and metal jewelry. I have gold, diamonds and many other stones I've gotten at yard sales. I've also bought lots of valuable antiques at yard sales for very small amounts.

Best deal...probably a mans gold wedding ring with three decent sized diamond in it. I paid 50 cents for it.

At a "real world" yard sale, I'd have to say my best deal was a complete set of brand new children's Disney books (about 50+) for $3.00. So far I haven't managed to find that painting someone's had in the attic for 70 years, is selling for $5.00, but is really worth $250,000. But I'm still looking. :-)
Online (freecyle & craigslist are like yardsales in my mind) I've managed to get 2 completely amazing items... a $600+ like new Ikea entertainment unit, and a Sleep Number bed, both items for the total cost of $0.00.
