today I went to the tennis tryouts, and I really sucked bad at it. or maybe I just didn't get to shine. There were many returning players, but I was the senior and it was so embarrasing. Freshman had excuses becuz they never played before but me. argggggggggg. I am not trying out anymore. is that a good decision. I was sooo embarrased. I would have taken the embarrastment if I was a junior, but I don't have next year to play. It was very embarrasing. and I am just not even going to tryout. does anyone know if I could learn and play tennis somewhere else out of high school. I don't know if I should go again to tryouts should I?

don't worry. i sucked too before the season actually began, but you get better no matter what if you keep trying. if you want to try and improve skills on your own, you can look up local clubs or community centers for private ofr group lessons. i suggest you keep trying out even if you are embarassed cause otherwise you might regret not giving it your full shot. who knows?--you can become most improved player or somthing. :)

practice hitting all your strokes with a ball machine or a hitting partner. Also, play practice matches with players around the same level so you have an idea what the competition will be like come "showtime". During tennis tryouts, you either have to hit balls fed by the coach or play matches against other kids. Chances are, if there are more kids than spots available on the team that are the same level as you then you will be competing with them for playing time. If you are not already doing so, play some local tennis tournaments. Not only will you get match experience for the high school season but you will show the coach that you are working hard to improve your game. The coach might put you in the match over someone else because you have more match experience and a higher ranking. Have fun and good luck!!!

Ok I play tennis for my high school and now we only have 9 kids returning so it is all out there in your case if your team has a challenge ladder just climb up the ladder into a spot and if your doesn't have 1 suggest one to your coach

Hey never give up when I was in high school I couldn't play a lick but I practice and by my Junior year I could beat my schools #1( who was ranked 15 in juniors at the time) to take his place. So think positive and persevere.

there are tennis clubs you can go to and they have instructors. i say it is better to have tried then not to try at all so go to the tryouts.
