we have a belly button because when we are in our mother's womb it is the way that nutrients, liquids and food enter our bodies. they do this by way of the umbilicle cord which is attatched to your belly button and to your mother. they cut this at birth and the cord eventually falls off leaving you with either an inny or outy belly button.

It's where your umbilical cord attaches to your mother so you can have nourishment in the womb. The cord is broken after birth but the hole is still there and it is your belly button.

This has got ot be the most stupid question ever. Ever heard of an UMBILICAL CORD? yeah, the one attached to your mother when she gave birth to you? A belly button is the result of it.

When you were still in your mom's tummy, you needed a way to get food so there was a cord that allowed the mother to give you food through the cord.

That's the thing that attatched you to your mom, and when the doctors took you out, they cut it and made a knot, and pushed it right into your belly.
