I don't think so, but actors by trade are usually open to their feminine side (being performers after all) and sometimes that might give the impression of being gay.

My wife is a big Elijah fan and she has wonder that as far back as "North". She just "feels" something is off.
I just think he chews his nails too much

I've felt that way since Radio Flyer. Especially after filming LOTR, how he kept his fake accent for quite a while. How Madonna of him.
