I have often heard that death comes in three's-is this true? On what is it based?

it has come in 3's in my family but I don't know what it is based on

Alright, i have to say this. 3 is NOT a bad number. It is just considered one of the most powerful numbers. Death is a very powerful change and so probably chooses to visit in 3's. But the number in itself means nothing bad or good. It means power and change. Blessed be.

Death can come in any number you find attractive, depending upon when you start and stop counting. We humans tend to want to find patterns in everything, and death, being as profound a change in the state of person's life as can be, certainly attracts a lot of attention.
People die individually, I suspect, not in discrete packets.

I've heard that accidents (to an individual) or disasters come in threes.......but not necessarily death.

It depends on how you count. People will always die; you can count them in whatever increments you choose.
