25 years in prison with the possibility of parole. It's a wash. I will go to trial, and hope for acquittal.

It has gotten ridiculous how they do the plea bargain. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't an innocent person doesn't have a chance anymore. What is really crazy is a few times on Judge Judy, she yelled at people, "WHY would you take a plea bargain IF you are not guilty!" All I could think was what planet are you on Judge Judy!!??? They push you to feel like your only out is take the plea deal. Especially when you think of all the innocent people the court system railroads unmericifully into jail anymore. Even when you don't take the plea deal and are found innocent they still like to find some way to slap a fine on you anyway.

thanks for asking this question, it shows how little our people know about the justice system, there are many people who are innocent of the crime they are acused of because (1) our courts have a 98,8 %conviction ratio, so unless you are in the minority and can afford a good Attorney , $100,000 min, you are going to prison,so a plea for lesser time is the only way out, even if you are not guilty,
peoples memory is so short for some reason, have you forgot the 47 nmen in Ill. who was convicted and sentenced to be executed , a reporter got interested and did some investigating , then called in the F,B,I, who in turn proved 35 of these men were not guilty, the gov, stopped all executions in his state at that point, this was in the late 90s they proved the cops and the prosecutor lied, no charges were ever placed against either , the prosecutor is states Attorney General now,
what about the Rampart scandal in Los Angles ? another reporter set up some cops then called in the F,B,I, they found that the cops were committing crimes and placing the blame on others, and many of them pled guilty to keep from getting life sentences, now 1000s of these cases have got to be retried, and no charges have been brought against any cops or the prosecutor? and how many times have you heard a prosecutor who is running for gov, or a higher office brag about how he had a 98 %conviticion ratio, and the ignorant people elect this criminal who him self should be in prison himself, any one who is represented by a public defender ( public pretender ) is going to jail as the public pretender does exactly what his employer (the state) wants him to do get you ,convicted,

If the person is guilty, he should take the plea and accept the 25 years. He deserves it, because Meth is dangerous stuff that can damage the brains of unwitting kids. If innocent, certainly he should go to trial. I shudder to think of an innocent spending 25 years in such a terrible way.

Remember the government has the burden of proof here. If the defendant is in fact innocent, proceed to trial. If guilty, but his attorney can show reasonable doubt - go to trial. Also, if trial , the prosecution may offer another plea before the verdict is announced.
