Get a calculator. Then, divide the number on the top by the number on the bottom. You've got your answer.
That's all a fraction is really. One number divided by another larger number.

In order to turn a fraction into a decimal, you must divide the denominator into the numerator.
So, in your fraction 1/6, you'd do this:
_
_.16_____
6|10
- 6
------
40
- 36
------
4
_
As you see the answer is .16. The line over the 6 means that the six is a repeating decimal (you just keep getting sixes from that point on for eternity).
That's how you turn a fraction into a decimal for any fraction. You divide the numerator of the fraction by the denominator of the fraction. And, if you get to a number in your answer that is a repeating decimal, put a line over that number.
There you go. I'm glad I could help. :)

You put the top number, the numerator, inside the house, and the bottom number, the denominator outside the house and you divide, add a decimal point and some zeros to the number inside the house, bring the decimal point directly up to the answer line, and there you go.
