I really loved that programme, Never missed an episode, I've lived through this during my first marriage and it's true to the bone. You felt with the characters, cos it actually happened, not just Liverpool, but everywhere in the Uk. If it came back on, I'd definately watch it again.

Like many others, I remember the program. Really funny, and included some crazy characters.. Yozzer will of course be the most memorable character with his unusual approach to job hunting after loosing his job, with that his pride and eventually loosing his family. At times the program showed the sad truth behind the unemployed at that time, and was a reflection of life for so many people back then ..... have things improved? .... who knows?

That was classic (brilliant) TV from way back then. Nowadays it would probably seem a bit jaded on the screens. I thought the acting in it was absolutely superb because the actors - especially Bernard Hill and Michael Angelis - identified with the characters.

Great memory. Yosser Hughes, played by Bernard Hill. I remember the episode where he met (the then) Liverpool FC player Graeme Souness and kept saying "you look like me". What a sad episode it was, though, when he was trying to prevent his kids being taken away by social services.
The whole series was great.

certainly do. do you remember when Yozzer went to confession in church and told the priest he was desperate, and the priest told him call him Dan, to which he replied, "I'm Desperate Dan". how funny was that? although i'm not entirely conviced that due to the sadness of the moment that it was intentional. they don't make programmes like that anymore, i can tell you etc etc blah blah blah
