yes it has happened to me. My dr would not even try for the heart beat intil after 16 weeks. I guess the heart beat is easier to find after 16 weeks but being a mom you can not help but worrying about the baby.
If she said everything looks fine than it will be!

She should definitley be able to hear the heartbeat. I heard mine at 12 weeks with my first 2 and at 10 weeks with my 3rd. WIth the baby Im pregnant with now I think I was 11 weeks when we heard it. Yes it was using the Doppler for each of them.

My soon to be wife is 14 weeks. We have had 3 U/S and have heard the heart beat in 2 of the U/S's and once with a doppler. Not sure what else to tell you. Maybe you should tell your Dr that you want to hear the heart beat or maybe its time to find another Dr.

If she sees the heartbeat on ultrasound then why does she need to hear it? As long as everything is growing and looking good you are fine. She will listen next time. My doctor tried it at 12 weeks but couldn't find it. Scared me to death but she was able to find it on the ultrasound. Some babies just are not close enough to the front. Also.. she knew she needed to properly date your pregnancy so why do both? That seems a little redundant to me.
Oh and mine was not because I am fat. It was because my placenta is actually on the front of my uterus so she would have had to hear it through it at the time.

your doctor should have used the doppler. Usually they can hear the baby's heartbeat after a few weeks, if not, the first month. If she doesn't use it next time i would advise you to ask her why, or get a new doctor.

I didn't hear the heartbeat till about 16 weeks. They can hear the heartbeat through the u/s. But at 14 weeks she should have at least let you listen to it. Some can usually be heard at 12 weeks.

She can see the heart beating on the US.
If you are at 14 wks and this is your first visit, she probably had alot of catching up to do for your screening tests, confirming your dates, and other things that are more important. Especially consider that this was a same day appt, which is generous of her to do so.

She would have seen the HB on the us - don't worry! If there was a problem it would be more noticable there than with a doppler. There is no need to do both! Good luck!

from my experience it is to early to detect it by the doppler...but your next appt they deffinately will...the heart isnt developed enough to detect it by that machine...but if at your next appt your doctor doesnt use the doppler ask him/her when they are going to use it because you would like to know when you would be able to hear your babies heartbeat.....also you can go to baby stores and by the doppler machine yourself....good luck
