i installed a wireless connection through a router. It worked fine but now I want back to my wired setup?

I tried going back to the wired setup reinstalling the network even used the restore to earlier point feature in XP but still the host computer cant connect through my computer, it gets a message that the phone line is busy. We already went through all the checking and unchecking. what are we missing ?

If you haven't tried yet, disable the wireless connection: CONTROL PANEL, NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS, NETWORK CONNECTIONS, right click on the Local Area Connection and Enable.
