If you want to go to law school, any major or minor is fine--they don't necessarily look for people with a certain degree. I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Writing. There is a ton of writing in law school, and it combines all types of writing--expository, persuasive, things like that...so writing was a good thing to have since all of my law school exams were essay.

When you go to college, your Major will have more hours in the area of concentration than your Minor. You'll have the required stuff that everyone has to take (Western Civ, English, Algebra, foreign language, Communications, etc..) Then the hours for your major, hours in your minor and a few electives left over.

You can go any college website and navigate your way to finding out how many hours are required to graduate and how many are required for your major and minor.

I knew people in a law school with business degrees, History, PE(Kineseology), everything.

A major is an area of study in which the classes you have to take are laid out and total 40 hours I believe. A minor is a set of classes from another major from which you only take 20 hours. If I were you, and I am not a law student, I would major in Pre-law and minor (or double major if you can) in Political Science. Good luck either way.

Major is what your main area of study is......for example lets say you major in electrical engineering
Minor is something that is a side area of study.....since majoring in electrical engineering you have to take a lot of math classes......so by taking a few more math classes besides the ones needed for you major you would minor in math
For the first year or so just get your basics out of the way (english, history, political science, science, basic math, etc etc). Each university is different as far as curriculum so ask a counselor.

A major is an organized collection of classes, either revolving around a subject (e.g. mathematics), theme (e.g. peace studies), or professional field (e.g. Pre-Med, Pre-Law, Engineering, etc.)

A "minor" is a concentrated area of study in a department which provides a general background, or adds knowledge in a subject related to to a chosen major or personal interests. Most minors require from 15 to 24 hours of course work and are found in nearly every department.

Check with the school you are attending to see what courses you need to take. Depending on which area of law you want to take, you might take different classes.

Are you taking:
Criminal Justice?
Paralegal?, etc
