We will ahve too many immigration issues and cultural calshes, unless we can form one blended society. Everyone has differences, even the most homogeneic society, but when will be
JUST American?
Can we get the ball rolling NOW?
Can we drop the hyphen, like some people did when 9/11 hit us?
I try to do this with people, and they usually back me into a corner to answer... at which point I sometimes excuse myself altogether!

Folks should be able to call or typecast themselves as they wish, don't you think? I wish to call myself a Stoopido-American, so you might agree, instead of just calling me a Stoopido or an American. That should be my option. Then, maybe tomorrow, I'll wake up, and be gentler toward myself, and just call myself an American, or, what the heck, I'll just maybe even call myself a Human-Bean.

You are right, but I wouldn't fight about it. That defeats the purpose. It's not the hyphen that's important anyway, it's the sense of national unity. I think this will happen spontaneously in the next few years, as it becomes more clear that we have enemies bent on our destruction, and if we want our freedom we'll have to unite.

Are you saying I cannot do honor to my ancestors who built this country with their hands, their blood, their sweat and their tears? Well, you can go to the blazes! I'm an American of German-Irish descent and I'm d a m n proud of all three!
