It has always been my thinking that say a mom kissing her son on the lips, or a aunt kissing a niece in this way is weird. But this sort of thing seems to be common, what is everyone's opinion?

It's up to the individual and recipient of said kiss. My Great-grandmother never kissed a soul I know of, everyone kissed her cheek. I come from a family of kissers, we kiss everyone, mouth, cheek, top of head, doesn't matter. I've been known to kiss my best friends on the mouth before boarding the airplane, knowing this was the last time I'd probably ever see them. When meeting a man, I tell them hand shakes are for men and I am a woman and I kiss their cheek. I have always kissed my parents before leaving their home, never know if it might be the last one I ever receive from them. What I dislike is for an adult to force a child to kiss someone...my sister-in-law is really bad about forcing her grand kids to kiss everyone whether they want to or not.

I agree. It's nasty.
