I am doing a program of dramatic interpretation, and am hoping to have a theme centered on the highwayman. Does anyone know of poems BESIDES Alfred Noyes' famous "The Highwayman"?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. :-)

"The Shooting of Dangerous Dan McGrew" by Robert W. Service comes to mind, although McGrew is an outlaw rather than a highwayman per se. I think you'd find Service's poetry lends itself to the program of dramatic interpretation you propose.

There is a poem called "The Highwayman’s Ghost" by Richard Garnett ... can't say I much care for it ...

Dick Turpin is a famous English highwayman, and the subject of a variety of poems including Noyes' -- again, I'm not sure you really want most of these ...

Try the Columbia Granger's Index to Poetry in Anthologies. Look in the subject index under "Crime and Criminals." You may find some ideas.

You might use lyrics from the song by Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson.
