Apparently, over the past few years, there has been an unwritten agreement between the two parties that they would not use the issue of Congressional Pay Hikes against each other in the elections.

In the last congress, the Republican's brought a bill to the floor that would have given each representative a cost of living increase of $2,800 to their existing salary of $165,200. At some point during the last campaign, the Dem's used this in an ad paid for by the DCCC to attack the Republican's. The ad indicated that the Republican's were giving themselves pay raises, while blocking the increase in the minimum wage.

Now that they are in power, the Dem's brought the bill back to the floor, and the Republican's are blocking an up or down vote that would permit the increase.

As it now stands, our poor representatives' pay is going to stay at a paltry $165,200 for at least the next year.

yes, Last year the two parties reached a verbal agreement not to use the pay hike as a political issue, and true to form the DCCC and the DNC drafted and used the potential raise as an issue against the Republicans in last years elections. Now they want the raise that they blamed Republicans for, our Democrat majority in action.....LMAO

1. That is what the Repubs get for trusting Dems.
2. Now the Repubs are going to block the raise.

BTW, this is a cost of living increase not a raise, and you will see it referred to as Cola.

Now come on. Do you really think they are going to block a raise for themselves. Something else is going on.
