I recently came into possession of a For Contour. The only bad thing is I am a Big and Tall guy, and this car is very uncomfortable. Is there a way to unbolt the bucket seat and reattach it 3 or 4 inches back.

An upholstery shop may be able to help with that. I had a seat lowered two inches in a Jaguar XJS so that I had headroom. That involved custom fabricated brackets, and cost ~$150, several years ago.

It can be done but its not easy or cheap. Also you would need to move the seat belt back so it still functions. I have done this on older VW bug.

I dont think it is possibe, but if it is its probubly not recomended, the seat brakets and bolt partern are set for safety and designed for safety, altering these may be more comfortable but not safe, especially with airbags and such..
