I'm looking at the estimate and they have replacing the door. how can that be when he scratch the lower part (the panel of the door) Is this correct or our we getting screwed.

Ask for a second estimate, from another body shop. If you creased or dented the door, it is possible that the damage could be that much. If there is no metal damage, than the price is too high. Without seeing the car, I can not tell you if the price is reasonable!

A whole new door with a paint job wouldn't cost anywhere near that much. And you don't replace a door for a scratch. The whole car isn't worth much more than that. Someone is trying to rip you off. The owner will probably get a kickback from the crooked body shop.
