l honestly think Omar will make the Hall of Fame based on the fact he has been very steady for a lot of years. Although his batting average is slightly under .280, he does have 2,500 hits and is arguably one of the finest defensive shortstops to play the game. He is very good in clutch situations, much like Hall of Famer Bill Mazeroski. However, he didn't carry his team to a World Series win like Maz did. lt will definitely take a few years, but eventually he will end up in Cooperstown!

Absolutely... You people need to have side by side comparisions (stat books) and see Omar matches up to the current SS Hall of Famers.
Omar may not get in when he's on the ballot for the first time, but he will get in. Especially when the sports writers era changes.
by 2018 he's in.

Very long shot to say the least. Omar Vizquel is the modern day Dave Concepcion. Both are great fielding players, average numbers at the plate, but very vanilla in personalities. Like Concepcion, he will get overlook when all is said and done and it is time to vote.

Nope. Vizquel is good, a decent (but powerless) hitter with some speed. A great defender, but not even he is Ozzie Smith, who is the gold standard by which every player will be judged. Aparicio played in a different era, and most today say he shouldn't be there.

I think he should. He's one of the best fielding shortstops of his generation. His 11 gold gloves at the one of the most important positions on the field should get him in.

Yes. it is simple, because like Mark McGwire many of the "steriod" era power hitters will be looked at as cheaters, opening the door for batting average, singles, and steals type players like Omar. (most likely not first ballot though) depending on class he is with.

I 'll take a while, but yes.

After all, Bill Mazeroski retired in 1972 and wes selected by the Veteran's Committe in 2001.

Highly unlikely. I've never heard "Hall of Fame" and "Vizquel" in this exact question popped up here about a month ago. He's a decent player, a fine fielder, but not a Hall of Famer. At least in my opinion. :-)

No. Omar is a very good defensive SS, but who isn't. And his offensive numbers just don't stack up to other great defensive SS's like Ozzie and Jeter. I just don't think he's done enough to set himself apart from other who have played the position just as well through the years.

I think he should be in the Hall Of Fame, but you know how racist the writers are getting, they want to keep everyone out now, and some that are in they want to take them out!!! We're going to have a Hall Of Fame without any Hall Of Fame players!!!
