When I am in emotional turmoil, I rely on actions, not feelings or faith. Feelings and faith can lie to me. Behavior is everything. I just have to walk through bad times.

They're not mutually exclusive.

God can help us in a number of ways. One way is that He may have already prepared the situation so that it will work out. In that case, faith is all that's necessary. But God might also guide us to make certain choices that will help us. One of the ways He can guide us is through our feelings. But it's important to recognize the feelings that come from the Holy Spirit and distinguish them from other kinds of feelings. The Holy Spirit feels like love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith, among others. If we are not experiencing one of these then we can't say that the feeling we are getting is from God.
