More and more youngsters are learning computer writing and I was wondering if kids are still learning handwriting in grade school? In the old days there was no computers, then there was typewriters that was used mainly for business purposes, but now with the computers and e-mail, people are using the easiest way. Do you think handwriting is now old fashion? Do you think it will dissappear eventually with the new technologies and become something of the past?

I think it's similar to the calculator... children are still taught basic math. But once a solid foundation is established they can use calculators to assist with more complex problems.

I believe the basics of handwriting will be taught in the same way. Children will learn how to print and write, but once they have that important foundation, reports and essays will be typed. The advancements in education will require the speed of typing.

We can never become completely reliant upon technology because technology is not completely reliable.

We also need to know how to sign our name. Even with thumb prints and eye scans, signatures are important as proof that you have agreed to certain terms within contracts etc.

(also keep in mind, that people still sew and knit, though clothing is mass produced, people still use candles though electric lighting is standard, people still paint and draw though cameras have been around for many years. There is something about using your own hands and mind... the human touch... that will always thrive.)

They said Newspaper would end with the invention of Radio. It hasn't. They said the Newspaper would end with the invention of the television. It hasn't. They said the Newspaper would end with the invention of the internet. It hasn't.

Some guy solved some age old math problem without calculators. He just used pencil and paper.

Some people prefer the old, some people prefer the new.
Some do, some don't, Some will, some won't.
