The girls do more for the guys. They have to shave there legs, armpits, bikini line. Get there hair done. Buy expensive perfume. Get dressed up. Put on makeup. Wear high heels. Pretend to like sports. Flirt and Smile all the time for attention, so he is not attracted to other girls and if that fails a lot will get a Boob job. Then after all that, you should be a good cook also. Making brownies is a good idea. Guys like Oral Sex but it will not make them care about you. It is better to play hard-to-get at first or we will think your a sl*t and not that special girl. Remember the best girl is a girl that does not need a guy. If she is independent. Has her own career, that makes her financial secured. The guy will think that she wants to be with him for what he is, ad not for what he has. He will fall in love with you and then you don't have to do all that stuff anymore. Well, maybe some of it.

lol, yeah i mean guys don't HAVE to do all those things, it's just extremely sweet when they do :] but girls should put effort into the relationship too, it's not only the guy. i think girls should be expected to care about the guy as well as the guy cares about the girl... well in marriage both sides even out. i mean i don't know about any one else family... but in my family our dad works, does the taxes, pays for the bills, manages important phone calls, and keeps our family together through finances and protection. my mom cleans, cooks, takes care of us, helps us with school work, and so much more. i guess there are just some things that even out. sure the guy is supposed to pay for the date, bring flowers, hold the door open, put his coat over the girl, walk her to the door, push her seat in, etc. but the girls do their share, maybe in a less noticeable way. you have some cute ideas though :]

Have dinner ready for him every night, keep the house clean, do the laundry. Maybe if we were living in the 50's. Come on man, after the whole womens lib thing, things like paying for dates, bring flowers, hold doors are out the window. Sister are doing it for themselves right! Seriously though, whoever asks for the date should pay for the date or at least pay half. Its not like you women don't work.

All of these things are particular to our culture, but weren't always the expectation. Read about how chivalry came into being, and what it was like before that. Romanticism created chivalric notions about how men and women were supposed to behave, men conquesting and wooing women with gentility, and women put on a pedestal and idealized as the embodiment of purity. Neither is a good place to start when trying to get to know actual human beings -- in many ways, the romantic ideals interfere with genuine communication by creating unrealistic expectations based on what gender roles appear to be. These are just fairy tales, folks -- don't put much stock in what one or the other is "supposed" to do. Manners are meant as guidelines in society, not mandates. Men are still trapped in chivalric role-playing, evidenced in the above expectations noted by the questioner. Likewise, women are stuck playing the purity role -- something that keeps them from expressing their sexuality for fear of being labeled anything less than pristine. Why not do things for one another based on how well you know yourselves as people, rather than what each gender expectation is supposed to be? I bet you'd get a lot more oral sex that way --
; )

All that nice stuff is just a down payment on all the crap you will expect from the girl once you marry her. Then she will probably cook for you clean for you, wash your underwear and raise your kids while still keeping a job herself, plus she will have sex with you even when she's exhausted.
Isn't that worth some dinner and a few opened doors?
BTW I would make you some brownies. You seem like a nice guy.

Actually, a real man with real manners does those things without expecting something in return from the girl. You, as a man, do those things in order to be considered a "gentleman." Too many men today, especially in America, have no idea what that means, and often act like selfish 12-year olds well into their adult years.
So, if you're going to act like a gentleman, do it not because you think SHE should do something in return, but rather do it because it's the respectful and respectable thing to do!

Respectfully speaking, probably something domesticated, as you said. Cooking him something.
You see, in my opinion, guys are chivalrous during the dating part but when/if marriage happens, then the girls return the favour by cleaning/cooking/doing your dirty laundry and what not. xD
However, I do know some girls that refuse to cook or clean but then again, not all guys open the door for us or pull out the chair.

custom and chivalry says that a guy is often assume to open and carry the door. although, person-friendly experience and courtesy says anybody can carry open a door. the two way is a gesture of kindness, does not particularly rely.

Get his car vacuumed out, pick up his clothes from the cleaners, buy him a special snack when he has to work late, rub his feet after a hard day at the office, run his bath and scrub him, keep quiet and don't nag him half to death about your problems.

Don't look at it as if you are "suppose" to do it; look at it as a sign of respecting the opposite gender. Anyway, just remember, good things come to those who deserve it. Show grattitude and the girl will hopefully pay you back in return o__o
