the trouble is that I don't like other people to touch it without giving it a good polish rub after. Do you think i should replace it with a lesser but still nice knob?

I have a huge Knob sitting next to me on the sofa I dont like people using mine

Never replace your very large knob with anything other than an even larger knob.. To stop people from touching it apply a small voltage, none lethal of course.. That will keep the buggers off..

Be proud of your knob! You should polish it at least once a day. If you are going to let multiple people touch your knob I would suggest using some form of protection.

maybe replace the door with a nice long door handle with no knob, one that doesn't need polishing,, lol...

i prefer knockers myself. but keep your knob it may look unsightly but i hope you dont need 2 hands for it
