I used to work for Careerbuilder.net. The majority of the companies using job boards to post jobs also are using resume management software. I would bet that your resume is not being seen by the hiring manager. Lowly HR personal are the ones who filter through the resumes.
If there is a job you want and you feel that you're qualified for it, then I would try and make reach the hiring manager by phoning him. Think about it this way, when the hiring manager has an open position, he/she is desperate to fill it. The HR worker who handles the resumes doesn't feel the same "urgency" to fill the position. I never had any luck submitting a resume via an on-line job site.
Do your research and track down the hiring manager, be aggressive.
my 2 cents.

You should create one account in Monster or Career builder but I think you can create different resumes to use to apply for different jobs. If you really want a particular job - and see it out there again and again, I'd go ahead and reapply - they might give you an interview to get you off their back and then end up hiring you when you do a great job interviewing.

HEY!!! don't apply twice through those places. Go to the location you applied and ask if your current application is still being viewed. They will most likely pull it up so take a current copy of your resume with you and mention that you have a resume with you. If they ask to see it then present it to them.
Also try www.snagajob.com They have some good job listings as well.
Good Luck

Usually once should be enough unless ,for instance, there wasn't enough applicants and the job was reposted or was taken off of the sites then put back on some time later.

Once is enough. With sites like these there are so many people applying you will likely not hear back often. Don't push it, just move on to the next one.

I always wondered that too.. but isn't persistence key? At blockbuster.. (where I worked through college) it was better to apply once.. but call often.. I imagine that most jobs would be that way.
So I guess give it the proper amount of time before re-applying .. they have it on file anyway...

If you are posting your resume, do it once. If you are applying for a job, apply once and communicate with the employer to see where you stand. If you can't talk to the employer, apply as many times as you want.

I am a recruiter and I would suggest only applying once for the same job; you can follow up with a phone call to show your interest.
Good luck!

If you are applying for a position in a large company, there is not guarantee that your two applications/resumes will go to the same people. It certainly does not hurt to apply more than once.
On the chance it makes you look deperate, WHO CARES? If you are not working for them, what difference would that make.
Good Luck!

Apply once then call and check on your app every 2 to 3 days. If they say they can't find it then apply again.
