Tell him to focus on what he has not what he does not have or is about to lose. Death is a part of life.

YOU CANT MAKE IT GO AWAY THERES NO MAGIC LIKE THAT. JUST LOTS OF LOVE AND reinforcement.HAVE HIM SPEND LOTS OF TIME WITH GRANDPA WHICH MIGHT BE A SACRIFICE for you but worth it in the end.let him no thats life and people move on and thats ok.if he has faith tell him he will see him again. its not over but just the beginning.but in general let him know you care thats most important.sorry about caps im at work and in between i get called and forget to put them back

Try just being a 'really good listener' and even give him 'room' to cry if he needs to. You don't need to 'say' or 'do' anything more ... just 'love him' and BE GENTLE with him while he is going through this ... it's all part of the 'natural grieving process' and just being 'you' and 'loving him' through all of this is really the very BEST THING you can do for him in this 'rough time.'

Just let him know that you are there for him and he can count on you. Listen to him and try to keep him from distancing himself and pushing evryone away as guys tend to do this. Its very difficult for guys to make themselves vulnerable so remember to be patient with him and dont smother him with pity. Empathy is better

some people like to have a little space at a time like this. if you can't find a way to help him, maybe it's best to leave him alone for awhile.
