I moved here a month ago from Houston and am happy to be in a place where I am away from the humidity. Get away from the Strip and it is much like any city. Yes it does get hot but there are lots of positives. Skiing a few hours away, 4-5 hours and you can be in the Grand Canyon, Phoenix or San Diego. If you want great restaurants and entertainment you have everything here. We have a 6 month old and are not planning on moving too soon. A lot also depends on the area. We are in Henderson and in the Green Valley section they have walking tracks, parks and a community center with kids activities, pool, gym etc. Much better than what we had in the area we lived in Houston. Henderson and Summerlin are some of the nicer areas with master planned communities and as a result housing is a little more expensive there. The best idea is do what we did and take a weekend to drive around some of these areas and check it out for yourself. There are also some good books you can order online on Amazon etc. One is "Moving to Las Vegas" by John.L and Patricia Smith.

I did move here last May with my husband. We have a baby on the way and we are still debating whether to stay until they are school-aged. However, once you get away from the strip, it's a regular city. It depends on what you want to do here. I know several people that moved here to start new careers and they are doing great. If you want to move here just to party, think again, because you'll get sucked into the faux glamorous life of Vegas and ruin your life...just like any other city.
We are also close to lots of other major cities, several national parks, skiing, and we get some awesome shows. It's not a bad place to live really.

I don't think I would move there permanently. It would be cool to have an apartment there for a few weeks though. I'm not planning on raising kids right now, and I think Vegas would be one of the worst places on the face of the Earth to try and raise kids.

I stay in Vegas and pass to kin in Seattle. the climate at the two cities is extremely different so in keeping with which you value more highly you may p.c.. Vegas is in the path of the Mohave barren area. The summer time warmth is over one hundred for over 3 months. The spring and fall are outstanding. winter could be chilly if the north winds blow yet we seldom have even flakes. you're 6 hours from CA and seashores, a pair hours from UT and snowboarding, and a aircraft journey everywhere. the city is 24/7 yet people who stay right here learn how to not gamble different than like taking the same quantity of money as a action picture and understanding the opportunities of dropping are severe. NV desires instructors desperately. Jobs are casnos are tight authentic now yet house household projects may be a sturdy selection. Getting a job authentic off is extremely iffy. you will desire a motor vehicle through fact the bus equipment is undesirable. the value of residing is equivalent to Seattle. Seattle is humid. A/c isn't a classic issues for those various warm days in the summertime. Snow falls based precisely the place you reside. eating place fees in comparison to Vegas are bigger however the foodstuff, and so on., with regard to the same, in keeping with precisely the place you lease. it incredibly is all i be conscious of

I personally would not move to Las Vegas. I'm happy where I am. If I did live there however I hear the schools are fine. Not everything revolves around the "strip". It get's too hot for me in the summer (110) is common. Real estate is booming there, along with construction.

No, i would not raise my kids there. I lived there 2 years and hated every minute of it. It is hot. You will get severly underpaid and treated like crap if you work for the casinos. The schools are 49th in the nation. And everyone is greedy, ugly, and mean. Ok not everyone, but enough to make me move.

God no. The climate there is horrible, usually too hot or too cold. As a city, it's over-built and not much to look at. As they say, it's a nice place to visit...
