Overall GPA is going to be the primary number focused on unless you are "on the bubble."

Freshman year, as a comment above stated, is less significant, Any GPA from your senior year may not even be available to them, if you send in your application in November.

Just focus on your overall work ethic, don't worry about the small details like that, because they are now behind you. Do some extra-curricular work and make yourself a better person. Know exactly why you want to go to college and what you would like to do with your degree (help people, help society, make yourself financially able to provide for a family in the future, etc).

Colleges look at 10,000s of applications, so they understand how High School works. They know that in Freshman year a lot of kids are just getting oriented. So freshman marks are not as important as Jr marks. Junior year marks are the most important because by Jr year you are taking tough courses, but you are mature, hardworking, skilled at doing studying and preparing your work. So, if you are a good student, you will do well Jr year. Then the colleges only get to look at half your Senior year - they have to make a decision based on just your fall Sr grades - they are going to decide whether to let you in before you finish the year.

They will look at Sr grades to be sure that you continued to take tough courses and are not just loafing along with easy courses, and they want to be sure that you don't slack off. Even after you are accepted, if you bomb your Sr year spring courses, they can withdraw your acceptance and turn you down.

So, always do as good a job as you can, and don't slack off!

it relies upon upon the college, despite if maximum do (the main surprising exception i've got heard of incorporate the UCs). in assessment to what one responder suggested, it could have a huge effect on you, through reality that the grades are a million/3 of what basically count variety (senior 3 hundred and sixty 5 days won't count for corporation admissions), and faculties are finding for consistency. in case you blew one or 2 instructions freshman 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, it on the whole could not kill you till you're gazing an completely selective training like Harvard or Stanford, yet while the completed element was once undesirable, it incredibly is a challenge. the different considerable subject with doing poorly freshman 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is that those classes recent a foundation for what you would be doing in later courses. once you do poorly in freshman math or international language, working example, it is going to likely be that so lots greater good to catch up and do properly in sophomore 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. I generally see persons in this website say, "I did poorly to this factor, despite if now i gets immediately As and could teach them." the placement is that despite in the event that they artwork incredibly tough, they're going to probable not have the basics to allow them to comprehend the coming near artwork, so they're able to make it that lots greater intricate to do sturdy sometime.
