The 1980s were called the "eighties", the 1990s the "nineties", and we still refer to them as that today. But for this decade, we just say we're in the "21st century" or the "current decade".
I've heard tell of the "noughties" but that sounds too much like "nineties" (i.e. the seventies, eighties, nineties, noughties....NO) and it also just sounds stupid.
Any suggestions? And what will we call the 2010s?
