We have a Acura TSX, standard shift. We bought extended warranty. The clutch is starting to slip, they are saying it is us, however, we do not ride the clutch and the main driver has ONLY driven standard shift cars, has never had this problem before. Anyone else have problems with clutch?

I think it may be you. I have a 2000 Integra with 150K and there has been no slippage yet, no need for any repair under the hood at all. Sometimes you get a dud, though.

I must admit, though, that I am way too gentle on clutches since with my previous car (VW GTI), I drove it 11 years with no clutch needing to be replaced. That's a downright scary issue, since no one should be that good on clutches.

Good luck -- but I do think, no matter the length of warranty, that you're going to have to replace this one yourself ... clutches aren't covered, since they are such subjectively wear and tear items.

My CLS has had 2 at about 32,000 mi...also a tranmission replacement. I had to pay for the 2nd clutch after about 18,000 mi. on it. I think it was too little miles for replacement. Acura said that it fell in the "normal" wear-out period.

This is not the same transmission as the TSX. Mine is the same as the MDX 6-speed. I've had manual transmissions on 11 vehicles over more years than Acura has been in existence with only 1 other clutch replacement. I think their clutches are inferior.

how many miles do you have? I have an 06 with 6,000 miles, so far no problems (knock on wood) Go to edmonds.com on your computer, click on forums, then acura. (tsx clutch problems) 04 tsx's seem to be the ones that are having cutch problems. the clutch would not be covered by the warranty-a normal wear item

How many miles do you have on the car? If its starting to slip its not going to be covered underwarrenty, clutch, brake rotors/pads are never covered. unless its a factory defect like something breaking. Ive never heard of any TSX having clutch issues(but since you dont state millage its hard to say anything becuas eyou could be at 100,000 miles or 50)

I swear my husbands TSX clutch slips (at 35,000) but he says no...(but then he wasn't brought up fixing cars like I was...
I have an RSX-S (2002) and I feel the clutch spinning, but the service manager at our dealership says it's all in my head...(yeah and it's gonna be in HIS head the next time he says something like that to me...I've gotten service managers fired before, for treating me like a 'idiot woman')

I'd take it to an independant car repair (if you have one for Acura/Honda) ask THEM, get it in writing, call Acura tell them what the independant said and make sure they make the dealership honor the waranty. (the only way you get Acura to get on the 'stick' sometimes is to call corporate and complain.)

I have an 03 RSX with 60K and the clutch is just fine. Remember that your clutch is hydraulic, so the feel is different.

i have not heard of this problem but i will tell you this. your clutch is concidered a wear item and will not be covered by "acura care" extended warranty.
